What is the Global Public Finance Partnership?

People thrive when governments tax fairly and spend wisely. That typically requires fiscal capacity development, and the GPFP is the International Monetary Fund's flagship vehicle to provide it. The GPFP creates partnerships, pools resources and mobilizes experts to provide governments customized fiscal capacity development programs that help them deliver on their development goals. This global partnership was launched in 2024, inspired by the successes of previous partnership-driven capacity-development funds and lessons learned along the way. When we work together, we can do more.

The IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department houses the GPFP Secretariat, and values its longstanding partnerships with the international community of donors and capacity development providers. The GPFP provides this community a critical forum for coordination. As of late 2025,our development partners include Belgium, Denmark, the European Union, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Republic of Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Some of these donor partners also support Fiscal Affairs Department capacity development through major bilateral fiscal projects and the IMF's 17 regional capacity development centers.
